Zakk Wylde, legendary guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and founder of the heavy metal band Black Label Society is set to perform at a free concert event at the Hard Rock Café New York in Times Square beginning at 8pm. The event will feature a major nationwide promotional radio campaign, special online contesting and viral marketing and a first-hand look at the special line of the signature Zakk Wylde Gibson USA guitar and Epiphone Graveyard Disciple. The event is also co-sponsored by Dunlop Pedals.

Gibson�s month long promotional "Rocktober" campaign will culminate with two major Zakk Wylde appearances and events in New York City. In addition to the concert performance, Zakk will host a special "meet and greet" at New York�s renowned 48th Street Sam Ash Music Store from 4PM to 7PM the night before, October 30, 2009. "Zakk Wylde�s Hellfire Halloween Bash" concert with Black Label Society follows the next day at New York�s Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square. The concert will include V.I.P. guests who won their exclusive "all access" tickets and the opportunity to meet Zakk through a major nationwide radio contest that will be promoted heavily throughout the month of October.

In addition, fans of Zakk Wylde will be offered the opportunity to register for tickets to the event. The new Zakk Wylde Epiphone Graveyard Disciple* is dying to be played! Designed by Zakk in cooperation with Epiphone, the new Graveyard Disciple combines killer sound with equally killer looks. ZAKK WYLDE CHECKS IN WITH HEALTH UPDATE

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY last week dropped off the remaining dates on the "Pedal To The Metal Tour" due to frontman Zakk Wylde's health problems.

In a September 1 posting on his Twitter page, Wylde offers the following update on his condition: "I spent three days in a hospital in Eugene, Oregon where they gave me a 24-hour drip of Heparin [an anticoagulant which is used to decrease the clotting ability of the blood and help prevent harmful clots from forming in the blood vessels � Ed.] where they could monitor me. The next two days I received shots of Heparin into my stomach. Each shot lasted 24 hours. I was given a CT scan where they found three clots. I was then told each one of the clots passed through my heart.

"I just received an ultrasound. My left leg has a clot above the side and behind my knee, my calf and running into my heel. My right leg has a clot in between my calf and ankle.

"In a couple of days, I'll have another CT scan to see how my lungs are doing.

"On the brighter side of BLACK LABEL, they shaved off four inches from my love cannon, so Barbaranne [Zakk's wife] won't be in such excruciating pain as I hammer and plough my love into her Thor-style! Aside of that, all is peachy keen!"

Wylde stated in a recent Twitter message that he is unable to sing at the moment "because pushing can cause an embolism."

An embolism occurs when an object migrates from one part of the body (through circulation) and causes a blockage (occlusion) of a blood vessel in another part of the body.

The "Pedal To The Metal Tour" will continue without BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, and the rest of the bands � MUDVAYNE, STATIC-X, SUICIDE SILENCE and BURY YOUR DEAD � will carry on with the trek as scheduled.

Wylde has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs, and has been admitted into the hospital in Eugene, OR this afternoon. Today's BLS appearance in Eugene has been canceled, along with the remaining BLS appearances on the tour.

ZAKK WYLDE IN 'BONES' MOVIE

A trailer for the upcoming movie "Bones", which will feature an appearance by guitarist Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE), can be viewed below. (Note: Contrary to previous reports, Wylde will *NOT* appear in the "Bones" drama television that airs on the Fox network.)

Written and directed by Frank Pestarino, "Bones" stars James "Jimmy" Bennett, the American child actor who is perhaps best known for his roles in the films "Star Trek", "Daddy Day Care", "Hostage", "Firewall", "Poseidon" and "Evan Almighty". Zakk plays the role of Jed in the movie, which is described as a "heartbreaking coming-of-age story of four teens growing up in 1989 blue-collar New York, and the bond that would tie them together for life." A 2010 release is expected.
